WWW Wednesday is a book meme run by Taking on a World of Words.www

Each week we’re asked three questions –

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?Getting soooo close to being done with Infinite Jest. What will life be like in a world where I don’t mention that brick every week?

I’m also breezing through a few other titles, because what is the fun of reading one thing at a time?

I’ve picked up How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran, which is the April selection for Our Shared Shelf. It’s a book that has garnered some controversy, so it’s been interesting reading it knowing what complaints have been thrown at it. I’m quite liking it though- it’s not the all-inclusive feminist manifesto that many hoped it would be, but it is a wickedly funny autobiography which does being up some good points.

Speaking of books that people seem to love or hate- I’m about half way through The Catcher in the Rye, which I’ve weirdly never read before despite going through a billion years of the American educational system. Anyway, I’m not finding it bad at all. It’s actually been quite a breeze. Maybe because I wasn’t forced to read it?

Finally, I’m slowly pecking through the short stories of Fragile Things. I’ll most likely be reading this one for a while, hitting a story or two each night before bed. So far, so good!

What did you recently finish reading?

Lumberjanes and Essex County have mad there way to my finished pile. Review are up for both.

I’ve also finished Dead Wake and Bring Up the Bodies. Both were fantastic! Bring Up the Bodies was one I especially enjoyed. Wolf Hall took me a while to get through, but its follow up absorbed me. Perhaps it was the subject matter? The Wolsey/More/Katherine/Church Split thing I’ve read about or seen so many times. The downfall of Anne Boleyn gets a lot of treatment as well, though I haven’t encountered it as often. The Cromwell perspective, plus that of the Seymours, made for a different and interesting view.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I have a pile in front of me right now, but I bet I’ll finish something. They are all rather short titles. I’m going to start up another book club selection – Good Omens, once I’ve cleared my plate a bit.
