I lost one of my light saber earrings, otherwise I’d be rocking those too… because it’s Star Wars day! May the Fourth… May the Force. Get it?
For fans, today is a day to dress in totally not-silly ways, hit up some fantastic online sales (StarWars.com has a fantastic list if you’re looking to shop), and maybe even attend some fun local events. (We have more Star Wars bar trivia nights going on around here than I can even count…)
Star Wars day also gives me the opportunity to think about all the new things within the universe that will be launching in 2016 – books, movies, and television shows to get overly hyped about. I’m going with just my top three here, but between these, the comics universe that I’ve barely been able to touch, Episode VIII, the other spin off movies, and more books than I can count- Star Wars media consumption could be a full time job! (Is that a job? Can I have it?)
Bloodline by Claudia Grey
This actually came out yesterday, but I’m so slammed with current books that I won’t be able to pick it up for a few weeks at least, but just look at the summary!
When the Rebellion defeated the Empire in the skies above Endor, Leia Organa believed it was the beginning to a lasting peace. But after decades of vicious infighting and partisan gridlock in the New Republic Senate, that hope seems like a distant memory.
Now a respected senator, Leia must grapple with the dangers that threaten to cripple the fledgling democracy—from both within and without. Underworld kingpins, treacherous politicians, and Imperial loyalists are sowing chaos in the galaxy. Desperate to take action, senators are calling for the election of a First Senator. It is their hope that this influential post will bring strong leadership to a divided galaxy.
As the daughter of Darth Vader, Leia faces with distrust the prospect of any one person holding such a powerful position—even when supporters suggest Leia herself for the job. But a new enemy may make this path Leia’s only option. For at the edges of the galaxy, a mysterious threat is growing. . . .
Advanced reviews are looking really amazing, so I can’t wait to get my paws on this.
Rebels Season 3
Rebels, on Disney XD, has been a fun and fantastic edition to the Star Wars Universe. Taking place about 6 years before A New Hope, it follows the birth of the Rebel Alliance through the eyes of a small, close-knit team.
Season 2, which brought in familiar faces from the Clone Wars series, ended with an episode that was totally mind-blowing. Season 3 has a yet to be announced 2016 launch date, but I’m already itching to see where it takes us, and how the show as a whole all ties together before Episode IV takes place.
Rogue One
December 16, 2016. This is happening. And it looks amazing.
I am totally falling for the hype as well…so May the Fourth be with you too 🙂
