WWW Wednesday is a book meme run by Taking on a World of Words.www

Each week we’re asked three questions –

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I am incredibly proud to report that I’m 160 pages into War and Peace. Volume 1, Part 1 is finished and I’m about halfway through Part 2. So far, so good, though I’ll keep most additional thoughts within those status updates (#1 will be out tomorrow most likely).

The Reflections of Queen Snow White by David Meredith is also on my shelf, and should be finished by the weekend. It’s quite heartbreaking so far, and I’m curious to see where it takes the familiar heroine.

I’ve also been listening to the audio book of Calamity by Brandon Sanderson, which is making long runs more fun. I’ll need to figure out a new series to breeze through while race training once that one is done. I started on the Alchemyst books last year, so that’s an option. I can’t listen to non-fiction or anything too complicated… too much for my brain to process on those 8 milers.

And then we have Fragile Things, which is going at a snails pace. But again, it’s short stories that aren’t really connected, so I pick it up when I need a palate cleanser from my other reads.

What did you recently finish reading?

I’ve gotten through a few things in the two weeks since last posting a WWW. Firefight is complete (which should be of no shock since I’m currently reading its sequel). I also finished Good Omens for the second time in my life and probably loved it even more on this go around. I also breezed through J.G. Ballard’s High Rise, which was incredibly bizarre. I’m planning on watching the film, which I hear is difficult to follow without reading the novel, and then doing some sort of hybrid review of the two of them.

I’ve also been reading some random comics. Mostly the new runs of Doctor Strange and Black Panther. I probably won’t be doing comic book issue reviews any time soon, since I realy read things around their actual release date. However, I might make some remarks once story arcs are complete, ala what the trade paperback publishes. We’ll see. For what it’s worth I’m really, really loving Doctor Strange. And Black Panther has only had one issue so far, but so far, so good!

What do you think you’ll read next?

More War and Peace, obviously. But that’s a read that’s scheduled to go until the end of July.

Otherwise… hmmm. May is kind of a crazy month. I still need to read a classic, (unless I want to cheat and say Infinite Jest is my classic for the month?) and I need to get my Discworld read in. I also think my book club is working out what they want to do next. We’ll see?
